  • BrainPop

This resource is great for little animated video lessons in all subjects. After the videos, there are often quizzes for kids to take to measure comprehension.

  • Bright Storm

This is a great resource (featuring some Tam District teachers) focusing on math, science and test prep. Links to videos explaining particular topics. Similar use to Khan Academy listed above, however the videos feature actual high school teachers.

  • eNotes

This is mostly a literature resource, but also a resource for history, math, and science. The most obvious help are study guides for many (25,000+) novels and short stories that we may use when prepping to teach or to assist students with.

  • Grammar Ninja!

This is a fun game for students to learn some grammar rules. This could be especially effective when used on the SMARTboard.

  • KhanAcademy

This is now a famous resource full of youtube videos explaining math (developmental and pre-algebra through calculus), science, CAHSEE prep, and history concepts. There are also practice areas. These videos may be most effective for fairly advanced kids who need a refresher or another way of explaining a topic or for an adult teacher or para educator to receive a refresher before assisting a student.

  • Free Rice

Vocabulary practice - a good resource to use during extra time in Academic Workshop or for use as a group in class. Also, the website works with UN World Food program to donate food around the world, so it functions as a good global citizen lesson for kids too.

  • Algebasics

This website has example problems shown visually with accompanying audio (good for teacher refresher or for a student to view independently) organized by chapter/major concept.

  • New York Times

Obviously a great location to obtain news articles to use with students. Site log ins are available through each campus library.
